The Gerlach Volunteer Fire Department offers fire and emergency medical services to the surrounding community. The GVFD is part of the Washoe County Fire Suppression division. The fire department has four fire trucks ad ambulences. Volunteers are trained for structure and wildland fires. The ambulances are intermediate life support. GGID is governed by an elected Board of Directors (Board Chairman and four Board Members).
